Players, start your engines
Forza Horizon may offer you photorealistic sports cars and breathtakingly wide stretches on which you can drive quickly. But for retro enthusiasts everything is free: a 16-bit racing game, in which every nostalgic detail was lovingly modeled, is exactly the right - and super arcade racing is just right. Here are five reasons why you should play this funny old-skool racer from the British Studio Outoftthebit.
for Arcade Authenticity Super Arcade Racing definitely catches the retro arcade gameplay. Cars bounce effortlessly over sheer runs and win at speed through strategically placed rafters. Realism enters the background here - and that's the better. They only have two buttons, one for acceleration and one for the brakes (ideal for mobile devices). Just because the controls are so easy to learn and play, that's not everything else. You still have to take hairpin curves, to avoid blowing traps and competing drivers to pay attention to. Play in Story mode for the entertaining background history and the difficult curve or try different challenge modes if you only want to get in and out. There are bosses to defeat and discover hidden routes - lots of fun for nostalgia connoisseurs.
for the graphics Super Arcade Racing is full of colorful pixel art, from menu screen to the racetracks. Super Cars, Hot Rod, Micro Machinery: The OutofThebit team has carefully replicated the iconic look of these popular racing games of the 80s and 90s using a specially developed graphic engine. They will race in different places, be it on curvy streets in the city center, on muddy, trees lined paths or on slippery, icy roads. However, all courses have the same 16-bit charm, and the 2D view from above gives you the authentic arcade feeling. The editing scenes in Story mode also offer numerous stylish pixel images that you can admire.
How to adjust your ride You have a car with which you can work in Super Arcade Racing, but with the endless customization options, you can turn it into something very own. In the in-game garage, you can buy new parts, whether you want to improve performance or worry about cosmetics. Here you can spend your hard-earned racing gains to stand out from the crowd. Improve your engine, grab your wheels, improve your brakes or change the chassis complete. Everything is up to you.
for the Synth Soundtrack 16-bit graphics require a 16-bit soundtrack. Super Arcade Racing offers over 50 minutes original synth-load music composed by Outoftthebits in-house sound designer Simon Haines. There are a lot of faster jam songs with frenetic, easily crushed drums to increase the tension when they fight for the first place, but also lower, moody numbers that match the key torques of history. It's all wonderful Sega Mega Drive. Oh, and of course, individual bosses get their own theme melodies.
Competite online If you did not manage 60-level story mode, you can also complete the road race online. In multiplayer mode of the mobile version of Super Arcade Racing, you can challenge a second player to a head-to-head race and prove who is stig and who is DUD. Meanwhile, you can compete against up to four players in the Steam version.
