Delivered to the end of September, Railgrade, a railway construction resource management sim born in Saitama. Transfer resources and products by building routes to improve efficiency, aim for the fastest clear
Epic Games Publishing announced on August 25 that it will distribute the railway construction and resource management simulation game Railgrade on September 29. Compatible platforms are PC (Epic Games Store)/Nintendo Switch. The PC version will be distributed in Japan on September 30 due to the time difference. The game is compatible with Japanese display.
Railgrade is a simulation game that manages resource management through railway construction. The stage is a colony on a planet outside the earth. Because resources are asleep, there is no infrastructure, players will build a railway network, carry resources and products, and develop citys and industries.
This work is a stage clear-type gameplay, including more than 50 kinds of missions. For example, in the game play video released this time, the main target mission is to deliver salt and water to the city and increase the population to the specified number of people. In the map, there are silica mining plants and salt refining places in the map. Salt is produced by laying a track like connecting these and transporting silica to the refined place by freight train. Then, the line is built in the refined place and the city, and the salt is delivered.
There are multiple types of locomotives that run on the route, and the higher the horsepower engine, the more expensive. In the above-mentioned salt production, the terrain of the downhill from the mining ground to the refinery is sufficient for a low horsepower and low locomotive. On the other hand, since the city is on the hill, high horsepower is selected as a locomotive carrying salt from the refinery. If you do not have enough horsepower, the speed of the train will decrease, so the industry will be efficiently turned by selecting an appropriate locomotive according to the amount of terrain and cargo cargo.
In each mission of this work, clear rank is decided depending on how quickly the goal was achieved. With a high rank, you can get more rewards. With the reward, you can unlock new locomotives and industrial facilities, or upgrade the facilities.
Once again, when I returned to this gameplay video, I have built a new pump facility, pumped water and transported to the city when I have enough money. This also leads to an increase in population. By utilizing various resources in the map, you can achieve your goals faster.
In this work, we use railways to manage resources production and consumption. As the routes gradually become more complicated, we will aim for efficient routes. In addition, it is possible to invest in the development of the city and export the manufactured products on an airship to make further profits.
Minakata Dynamics, the developer of this work, is a Japanese studio based in Yashio City, Saitama Prefecture. Daniel Dressler from Canada has previously worked on the Tiny Metal series. According to the development of Railgrade, the support from the Unreal Engine team of Epic Games, which is also the distributor, has been greatly helped. At the official announcement in June this year, he also said his confidence in optimization of Nintendo Switch (related article).
RailGrade will be distributed in Japan on September 30 to PC (Epic Games Store). The Nintendo Switch version will probably be distributed in Japan on September 29.
